Beautiful area for enjoying the outdoors. I hiked the yellow and orange trails. Yellow trail is a mostly wooded loop. Orange trail runs along the perimeter of the prairie. The back section of the orange trail was flooded but passable. Sherm and Linda at the log cabin are great people. Very friendly and helpful.

We could not find photos of the campsites or a map of the campground. We live 20 miles away and decided to go check out the amenities to facilitate a good experience for our club’s overnight get together next weekend. We are pleased with the beautiful natural surroundings and grounds.

Beautiful Florida. The trails are well labeled. I did the Orange, which is a short 15-20 min walk, and the Red, which took a little over an hour. The #1 thing I saw and learned here is how important fire is to the natural ecosystem. There are also a handful of larger educational plaques along the trails that are a nice touch. There is ample free parking.

Loads of trails. A long maintained mountain bike/hiking trail as well. Restrooms available as well as many picnic areas. Orange trail was flooded out at the time we were here in February 2019. A multitude of structures and campground looking places. No entrance fee that I saw.

This preserve has lots of trails to bike or ride. If you are looking for wildlife, this probably isn’t the place for you. The walking trails do not have much variety, same basic look and feel of open area.
I would suggest biking here and if you are looking for a walking hike, head down the street to Sleeping Turtles.

Many miles of trails/fire roads through about 12,000 acers. Always good vegetation/flowers. Some wildlife. Near the entrance there's a pravilion picnic tables and rest room. The rest of the park is undeveloped except for the trails. Bring water.
There's a single track bicycle trail that's many miles long.

I went for about a 4 mile walk with a friend this morning. Around 2 miles in, we were both shocked to see a doe grazing in the middle of a curve in the path since we were talking at a decent volume. We immediately froze and she stayed a good 2-3 minutes, just about 5 feet away from us. A beautiful sight of nature on this Sunday morning. God's beauty is amazing!
