Great hiking spot quite when I went on the week day

Love going trailriding here beautiful trails but beware of other hikers and their dogs a lot of people, myself included, don't use leashes. One of my favorite horseback trail ride locations. Bring plenty of water if you're planning on walking it.
PLEASE Don't be the person or group that makes it to the lake and then is out of water, makes a very dangerous situation and it has happened before.

I really enjoyed walking this trail. BEWARE: Look carefully for signs at each new trail. If you're planning on taking the shorter trail toward the water, it's easy to miss the turn offs because the signs are sort of behind you. There are several trails leading off the two main Lizzie Lake trails. These are unmarked and unless you know where you're going or have extra time on your hands, stick to the main trails.

Check out reviews on AllTrails app. Beautiful area with easy trails and no hills. 2.5 mile (one way) trails between the south and north trailhead, and a very nice 1.8 mile loop off the north trailhead. Many views of the lake, and you’ll see other couples with dogs or riding horses along the way. The north loop has clean rest rooms, but you won’t find any wells or water, so bring some. Frequently patrolled by off duty sheriffs; weapons prohibited without a CWP. Walk quietly and you’ll see or hear deer, bore, raccoon, and other animals. Trails will be marshy when the lake is up and rare snakes will be startled as the warm themselves on the sand (so wear descend shoes).

This is the northern parking area for the Lake Lizzie nature area. There are lots of areas to hike through though most of the trails are for horses. Trails close to the lake can flood so be prepared. These trails are also not traveled very often even by service vehicles so do not expect a clean dirt path to follow. In addition some trails are not clearly marked so if you are not paying attention you may have to back track. You can realistically walk through every marked trail in the area in about 5 hours or so. As a side note this northern area has an eagle scout project that is a series of signs with directions to the next in the sequence and it apparently spells out a secret message if you follow them all. Keep your eyes and ears open as there is a good chance to see wild life.
