First I’d like to say, if I could give this company 10 stars, I would!

I called JW Handyman Services and Home Renovations to finish up some random work on a home remodel project that was started nine months ago.

The day after I called, Jeremy and his team arrived right on schedule, ready to tackle the list of items I needed done around the house—plumbing, electrical work, tile installation, storm door setup, light fixtures, and more. Despite the variety of jobs, they completed everything that day, except for the door. True to his word, Jeremy was back the next morning, as promised. I even added a few extra jobs that I had initially overlooked, and he assured me it was no problem at all. He said he would take care of everything … and he did!
What truly impressed me was Jeremy's willingness to go above and beyond, loading up his truck with leftover fencing materials and returning them to Home Depot for me, which was a huge help!
The quality of their work and their work ethic are exceptional. It’s difficult to find contractors who take pride in their work and care enough to make sure that every little detail is handled meticulously. They were incredibly responsive to all my questions and concerns, making the entire experience completely stress-free. Not only did they deliver top-notch work, but their pricing was also fair and transparent, giving us excellent value for the money spent. The final result is amazing—I only wish I had called them sooner! This project would have been done months ago.
I highly recommend you call this company first and save yourself a lot of trouble. They are reliable, skilled, reasonably priced, and actually care. We will definitely be using their services again for future projects.

Leaving this review in hopes it leaves others better informed on the project capabilities and overall communication that the JW Handyman provides.

We chose this company to remove an existing sliding glass door, window, and cinder block in order to install a bifold door on a back wall of our new construction home. Leading up to construction, we provided them with diagrams of the new door as well as pre-drywall photos of the back wall so they could prepare properly for the project. It took them a month to find us a subcontractor as two of them accepted but then declined the project for whatever reasons. We finally had a subcontractor start the project 8/28/23 and he finished the last week of September as this solo subcontractor was mostly working alone (his son was here occasionally to help) and this was his first job after returning from medical leave. This was also the first time this subcontractor had done any work for JW Handyman. During that construction time, the subcontractor had the entire back wall of our house closed with only a plastic tarp for 2.5 weeks of the project. When we were quoted this project in July, JW estimated that the project would take about 3-4 days. This project took 4 weeks to complete and required us texting them regularly for updates as well as requesting their team to communicate with their subcontractor as both parties didn’t follow up on replies for several days on at least two occasions. Then towards the end of the project, JW and Katie demanded more money than our original estimate as they claimed “unexpected additional concrete work time” even though we showed them exactly what we wanted done in the beginning. There was no change of scope for this project, just miscommunication between them and their subcontractor. At the end, the door installation was successful and a month post installation, the door continues to open well and perform as it was designed to open completely. The only complaint about the installation itself was that the subcontractor did not caulk the door edges well so my spouse went over it all again to insure no voids or leaks.

Keep in mind that this company is a husband and wife duo who primarily contract out their projects to subcontractors. You may not meet the people actually working on your house until the day they start your project, but Jeremy does participate in some projects. Before starting a project with them, make sure you have milestones and any pre-payments outlined on your signed contract. They insisted that they do not collect additional deposit payments before the project is completed but kept asking for additional payments without clear milestones on our project. Ultimately, our biggest complaint about this company is their lack of communication between parties as well as poor project management. Due to all of the mentioned issues, doing business with this company was quite stressful. They did okay, but have plenty of room for improvement as a contractor company. The quality of the installation was good.

My overall recommendation would be to hire this company for the usual projects they do like flooring, painting, and minor bathroom renovations. I do not recommend them for any structural projects like the one we did.

I had the absolute best experience working with JW Handyman services to get my floors and baseboards completed and will certainly use them again! Katie and Jeremy are an amazing team. Jeremey came out to give me an estimate promptly and was able to give me honest advice when it came to selecting the flooring and baseboards as well as a realistic estimate for how long the job would take (it was a large job as it was the entire house to remove carpeting and install vinyl plank). Katie is proof that we need more women in the construction service industry as they are so detail oriented. I am definitely type-A and like organization and attention to detail so I appreciated she had a detailed estimate emailed to me within 24 hours versus the other estimates I got were I go the estimates via text and had to reach back out to them to receive the estimates. She made sure to update me on any changes we well as checked in throughout the job to make sure I was happy with the team and the results. I am so grateful I hired them and would happily recommend them!

Wonderful work. Was able to get out and replace a much needed bathroom door. The workers were so nice and prompt! Will definitely be using for future work.

Updated review: After several months of back and forth, poor communication and a previous negative review, JWH came out to complete the work that had previously been left unfinished. We originally paid for ceiling-mounted light fixtures to be moved and some light switch configurations to be changed. The issue that I ran into from the beginning until last week was a lack of communication - from setting expectations/limitations upfront during the visit to get a quote, which would have given me a heads up on most of the electric work being a no-go, inability to quite match our ceiling texture for fixtures that were moved, etc. Those issues were compounded by consistent no-shows/lack of response. Today, Mark came out and finished texturing/painting the ceiling. His workmanship and attention to detail was good and he did, roughly, match the pattern. I am glad that JWH did eventually come back to complete the work. Just beware of bad communication, and my advice, pay after the work is completed rather than upfront.

Jeremy and Steve we out last Saturday and did a fantastic job on a barn fan replacement. Very courteous and professional and made sure all was working properly before they left. I highly recommend these folks.

Katie made sure that we were seen on the same day that I called. Jeremy helped in sealing the window for no charge due to not being able to fix the handle of the old window. Our home needs new windows and he is willing to work with us when we buy them. Jeremy came out of his way to help us. We are truly thankful. I would use JW Handyman Services again.
