Neat place for an easy walk/hike. Good for kids. Few loop trails along the Sanibel River with a lookout tower. Was hoping to see more wildlife but did see White Iris, Herons, butterflies and fish. Some parts Sun and some shade too. Good way to kill an hour or two if you need a break from the beach/pool.

Sanibel Island has many beautiful natural places where one can take a walk, but this is the best one on the island. The foundation does excellent work both at this site and across the island.

We hiked to the lookout tower. The place reminded us of jungle trails. The butterflies are not longer here and the visitor center was closed due to Covid-19.

As a new Sanibel resident of 3 years 🙂 we discovered this trail. Tried these trails in December 2020, it was mostly flooded . So happy to see that trails improved and are mostly dry now. It’s beautiful, changing from trails trough tall grasses , along the water, through wooded areas. Absolutely loved it. Saw baby gators, beautiful birds and plants. Walked all trails. About 3 miles. Not recommended for bikes. Do not bring a dog due to proximity to water full of gators !! I cannot believe it took me 3 years to find this gem on Sanibel. It’s pure nature. Thank you Sanibel for leaving this area to nature.

Really amazing conservancy, sadly I didn't get to see any wildlife. I would highly recommend taking the tour or else one will get lost. There is an amazing viewing tower where you can get amazing pictures. A picture attached. I highly recommend checking it out and especially going on this building.

Great organization that protects our ecosystems. They do so much work with great results. The staff loves what they do and all genuinely care about the environment as well as the people of Sanibel. They have different sections including habitat management, the marine lab and landscaping and native plant nursery. They also provide a lot of nature trails and events on Sanibel.

Super amazing place, love the Native Landscapes and Garden Center. The extremely knowledgeable and awesome Sue showed me around and introduced me to the world of Sanibel native plants I had only read about in books. Then I met with the awesome Becca, who came to my property and we walked through it discussing what I want, what I have. I knew right then and there I had to hire SCCF to help me on my journey to a 99.9% natural native Sanibel landscape. I am so looking forward to this, Becca and everyone from SCCF I have spoken to has been awesome, knowledgeable, just basically incredible people.
As a new person to SW Florida, I am not capable of figuring out what grows where, what works to attract what I want to attract to my property.I can read books, but it is not the same as having a true expert guide you.
Even if you are only a visitor to our beautiful island, please take a look at the Native Landscapes. It might give you inspiration as to how to make the place you call home more eco-friendly.
If you live in Sanibel, call SCCF for ideas. Learn from experts how to create a beautiful backyard and garden that is natural.
