My husband and I made an on the spur of the moment visit and met Shirley Begg one of the sculpture artists. She was so informative explaining the history of the pieces and the process of making the bronze sculptures. Very modest considering the extraordinary famous pieces she has made. Including a bronze larger than life statue sent to Normandy France to honour our Canadian Regiment. Thank you Shirley

Absolutely unbelievable experience. I recently came to Cochrane with a big group of my colleagues. When I told them I wanted to peel off from the group and check out this foundry, a lot of them came with me. I was sure it wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea, but the tour we were given was incredible and everyone was talking about it afterwards for a long time. They walked us through the casting process, showed us to the back of the shop where all the real work happens, and explained the history of some of their pieces. I was very impressed that they seem to have touched all the corners of the world with their art. In planning to look for their mark when I see a bronze statue from now on. Definitely recommend a visit if you find yourself in Cochrane!!

What a fascinating place! This is not a traditional museum. It is more like the display area of an artist's studio. I've been to various world famous museums about statues, but this one is special. The lady we met kindly explained every single details of how these amazing bronze statues were made.

The backroom tour where artists' originals hide was spectacular. For three generations, Cochrane artisans have transformed internationally crafted wood, clay, and wax sculptures into permanent brass textured forms. So much of Canada's outdoor art travelled here for enchantments of immortality by the forges beside this gallery.

I studied the basics of casting in college, and Studio West's adaptations were a wonder to behold.

This is such an amazing place, and it seems like very few people know about it. We got an amazing tour of the store and the workshop. If you have seen a bronze in Cochrane, Calgary, or across Western Canada, there is a good chance it was cast here.

Karen was very helpful and gave quick prompt courteous service , i cant wait to drive down and see the place first hand!!
