We bought our home built by New Mark Homes just under a year ago. The home was 95% complete when we chose it and at the time, it appeared to be better quality than many others we were looking at.
At the time of purchase, our Realtor, Mark Fraser, who was once a home inspector, was very detailed with us in every home we looked at. Mark agreed with our initial presumptions and felt very confident that this was a great choice. Mark was very honest in that he didn't know anything about New Mark at the time, but our experience has given his team confidence in showing New Mark homes to buyers in the future.
Now that we are nearing the end of our 12 month warranty. We hired a 3rd party inspector to see if there was anything that we missed as we simply couldn't find many issues outside of normal settling. He completed his inspection and found 2 minor items that we had missed, to which New Mark has already scheduled to take care of. The inspector and his assistant both said "this is one of the cleanest 11 month walkthroughs" they have ever completed around Kansas City.
I can not say enough good things about New Mark. They were pleasant to work with through the buying process. They communicated completely and timely during the finish and were incredibly thorough and education during the final walk-through. Most importantly we absolutely LOVE our home (our 4th new build in 20 years). Should we ever decide to move in the KC area, we would look for New Mark without hesitation!

Very underwhelmed and dissatisfied with NewMark homes. We have had nothing but issues the lawn, landscaping, and irrigation. We have raised these concerns with Craig and Mike and they don’t care and refuse to do anything about it. We had to have a respected third party lawn and landscaping company come and look at the lawn because NewMark and Meyer sod farms will not do anything about the terrible sod job. The landscaping/irrigation contractor we were forced to use is the most rude and unprofessional subcontractor I’ve ever dealt with. When we called to have a sprinkler head fixed that is covered under warranty, he implied that I broke it and was very rude about coming to fix it. We have had core soil samples taken and the sod was laid on top of rock and other debris, the lawn was not leveled correctly, and no topsoil was put down. Not only that, they waited to mow the sod until it was over 2 feet tall then they left all the grass clippings on it in the middle of spring rains, causing fungus and mold issues. Their justification was that they had to wait until it was dry to cut it. In other words they dropped the ball on maintaining the sod from the get go- it never had a chance. The assessment was that more than half the lawn needs to be replaced. Apparently this is what you get when you spend $890k on a home from NewMark. The nice looking lawn in the photos is the SAB home next door. Nobody lives there so all that is done is watering and weekly mowing. On the other hand, with our yard, we have watered and watered , mowed regularly, and worked hard to try and get our lawn to recover, but the sod job and landscaping was so terrible that it is just too far gone. If you are considering building with NewMark I would highly suggest reconsidering and going with SAB or Walker.

New Mark Homes was great to work with! The owner Craig was very nice. I needed a few accommodations to the original framing and prior to us even making an offer on the home, he wanted to meet with us to make sure they could take care of what we needed. We found our home when it was just completed framing, so we were able to pick interior and exterior choices. Michelle (the interior designer) was great to work with. She was very responsive to questions and was beyond helpful with helping us out with choices and keeping our budget in check. Our project manager, Richard, was also great. He kept us informed on progress and never seemed annoyed with my 100 questions every week after we would go see the house with our realtor! Since closing about two weeks ago, the care has continued. There were a few minor issues (some that we didn't even notice) that Richard made sure someone came after closing to correct! I have heard horror stories about working with builders, but I would not hesitate to recommend New Mark!

Communication, follow-through, attention to detail and the concept of customer service are really not evident with New Mark or the team. And in a market where there are other builders that have realized it's not good enough to just put up pictures of your past homes, and talk about how great the "quality" of your home building is -- New Mark is definitely behind the curve, and they don't even realize it. After more than 1 year going through the build process from the ground up, we're not happy customers, we know others who are building with them having the same poor experience, and we're telling people whenever we get a chance to look at other builders first.

We had a wonderful experience building with New Mark! We were apprehensive about the process of building because of how difficult we have heard it could be . However, the process was as near to perfect as you possibly could get! When the inevitable “hiccup” would pop up our project manager Dan, and interior designer Michelle were always quick to problem solve. The two of them are truly what made this experience worth it. They were both professional, patient, and knowledgeable! We would highly recommend using New Mark to anyone and everyone looking to build!

We just recently closed on our home built by New Mark Homes. We were hesitant to build a new home, but it ended up being one of the BEST decisions we ever made. Craig and his staff are very respectful and listened to every aspect of what we were envisioning in our home. They made our visions come to life! New Mark Homes truly exceeded our expectations with quality and service. By far one of the greatest experiences we have been through. We highly recommend New Mark Homes - KC!

We custom built our home with New Mark after comparing their work to a few other builders available in the subdivision. I must say that the quality of work compared to some of the other companies out there surpasses. That being said, we were on site non stop making sure it went accordingly because there was never once an onsite manager assuring that everything would go as planned. So many aspects of our home would have been completely wrong and messed up had we not been there to correct it. Because of this we were kicked off the property till closing time. Before closing we went through our home with Craig to mark things needing to be fixed and was told they would be done before closing. We got the keys a couple days after close, only to find that not a single thing on the list to fix was done! Not even the fan blades that were missing! It was winter time and some of the contractors left windows open which froze then melted, leaving water stains down much of the windows. We contacted through email multiple times and eventually gave up and paid other companies to come in and fix everything, including all the cable that cost $3000 through new mark that was never ran to anything in the walls! Overall the experience was a NIGHTMARE!!! I'm sure if you ask anyone who has built a home, they will tell you the same thing no matter what company you go through because ultimately its the contractors doing the work. The thing that bothers me the most is the lack of compassion and customer service from New Mark. Being a Don Julian company, I would've expected better. Too bad the guy running the show "Craig" is a complete jerk who wouldn't know quality customer care if it bit him in the butt! If you want to be made to feel like everything going wrong is your fault and not the builders than this company is for you. Craig likes to talk down to people who are paying him tons of money so buyers beware!
