Had a great night of camping out on this wonderful island. The grass was a bit tall when I got there, but they cut it the next day. It was a quick couple mile paddle from Grenada boat ramp to get to the island. Once I set up camp I spent a few hours hiking the several miles of trails. Mosquitos were quite annoying, but that's nature. Bring some off and some citronella and you should be fine.

135 acre Island maintained as a county park. It has composting toilets, shellters, fire ring , primitive camp sites, and a hiking trail around the inside perimeter. It has a marshland around the outside perimeter. Wild life is abundant in the marsh and on the island. Oh yea , it is beautiful. You can leave from The Docks at Marsh Landing on Shingle Creek off of Pleasant Hill Rd for a nice paddle out to the island. Kayak and canoe rentals as well as guides available at The Docks.

Great place to visit while you are on the lake. There is a dock to tie up to or beach it on the bank. Walking trail around the island is not a smooth trail, but you will see some wildlife. Grills and fire pit available on the island. You can also camp overnight on the island. Raccoons will probably raid your during the night. They are not shy about sharing some of your food.

The island has been completely abandoned by the FL Wildlife & Fishing Conservation and Osceola County for at least 10 years. All man-made facilities are collapsing or in the process. The only stable structure appears to be the docking area. I wouldn't venture into grass areas since it is up to my neck (I'm 5"11). The island is a heaven for flora, birds, snakes, spiders, and gators. I guess it is a good thing animals have a space to thrive here since Osceola is grossly overpopulated.

If you can get out to this remote spot it's well worth it. The campgrounds are primitive, but there is limited power and water on the island (no idea if its potable). The views are amazing, and there is a trail around the island that takes you through the undeveloped parts. For day use, there is a pavilion and wide open areas.

Could not find using Google maps. Sent me to a residential neighborhood, then told me I had 'reached my destination'. No I hadn't! Could not find any access points, and website never mentioned that the area must be accessed via personal boat. Very poor advertising for those not local to the area.

Very quiet my dog ran around for hours. There was no one there bathrooms needed to be cleaned. It looked as if nobody had been out there for some time to trim back trees or clean up a bit. But all in all I give it five stars.
